MTDP stands for Metallo-dependent phosphatases. It is named after the fold and superfamily superfamily in SCOP database. Members of the superfamily can be detected by corresponding HMMs of Pfam and SUPERFAMILY. The superfamilies consists of multiple families as shown in SCOP database. Not all of the families are protein phosphatases or even phosphatases.
