Phosphatase Classification: Fold PPM (PP2C): Superfamily PPM (PP2C): Family PPM (PP2C): Subfamily TAB1

Evolution

Domain

Function

Human TAB1 interacts with:

  • TRAF6 []
  • p38 [1, 2, 3]. TAB1 functions as a scaffold protein in the activation of p38 [3]
  • TAK1 [4]
  • MEKK1 [5]. TAB1 is ubiquitinated by MEKK1 PHD domain.

Human TAB1 is modified with N-acetylglucosamine (O-GlcNAc) on a single site, Ser-395. The modification is induced by IL-1 and osmotic stress, known inducers of the TAK1 signalling cascade. However, the serine at position 395 is only found in vertebrates.
