Phosphatase Classification: Fold PPM (PP2C): Superfamily PPM (PP2C): Family PPM (PP2C): Subfamily PTC7

Evolution

The PTC7 subfamily is found throughout eukaryotes. In most opisthokont, it has a single copy per genome.

Domain

The PTC7 subfamily has a single structural domain: phosphatase domain of PPM (PP2C) fold.

Functions

Little is known about molecular functions of PTC7. In yeast, Ptc7p, the protein encoded by yeast PTC7, dephosphorylates the mitochondrial hydroxylase Coq7p (Cat5p) and activates Q6 biosynthesis by Coq7p dephospho rylation. COQ7 is found in most eukaryotes, except plants and excavates [1].
