Phosphatase Classification: FCP:UBLCP1

Introduction

UBLCP1 is named after Ubiquitin-like domain containing CTD phosphatase 1. It has an accessary N-terminal domain, similar to ubiquitin. Its function is not well characterized, though in vitro assay showed its phosphatase activity toward RNA polymerase II C-terminal domain [1].

Evolutionary History

It is conserved from Nematostella to human but lost in nematode. However, UBLCP1-like proteins can be found in plant.

Catalytic activity

It has a different catalytic motif from other subfamilies of FCP.
