Phosphatase Classification: Fold PPPL: Superfamily PPPL

PPPL (PPP-Like) is a phosphatase superfamily found in both eukaryotes and prokaryotes. It is defined as a superfamily in SCOP, and by profile HMMs from Pfam and SUPERFAMILY. PPPL contains many families, some of which are non-protein phosphatases, or non-phosphatases. Two families include protein phosphatases:

  • PPP: serine/threonine-specific phosphatases.
  • PAP (purple acid phosphatase) family consists of the phosphatases that have a wide variety of substrates, including protein.
