Phosphatase Classification: Fold MTDP: Superfamily MTDP

MTDP is short for MeTallo-Dependent Phosphatases. It is named after the fold and superfamily superfamily in SCOP database. Members of the superfamily can be detected by corresponding HMMs of Pfam and SUPERFAMILY. The superfamilies consists of multiple families as shown in SCOP database. Not all of the families are protein phosphatases or even phosphatases. Here, we focus on two families that dephosphorylate proteins:

  • PPP - Serine/threonine-specific phosphatase.
  • PAP (purple acid phosphatase) - phosphatase of a wide variety of substrates, including protein.
