Phosphatase Subfamily NvecPTP-sf6
Phosphatase Classification: Fold CC1: Superfamily CC1: Family PTP: Subfamily NvecPTP-sf6
NvecPTP-sf6 is a receptor tyrosine phosphatase subfamily first seen in the sea anemone, Nematostella vectenesis
Evolution
NvecPTP-sf2 is found in Cnidarians, including 3 members in Nematostella vectensis, and EST evidence in several other cnidarians. The sequence is most similar to that of the PRPRD subfamily.
Domain Architecture
All three Nematostella members have dual phosphatase domains. Unlike almost all other dual-domain PTPs, the second domains of two of these (sf2-2 and sf2-3) are predicted to be catalytically active. A close homolog (KXJ28307.1 in the Cnidarian Exaiptasia pallida also encodes a full receptor architecture, with 5 Fn type 3 domains, and predicted signal peptide and transmembrane regions.
Functions
NvecPTP-sf6 is known only from sequence databases and has no known function.
