Evolution
Dictyostelium discoideum has two myotubularins, pats1 and roco9, diverged from other myotubularins. Both of them have protein kinase domain. They are classified as TKL group, LRRK family in kinase.com. The subfamily is found in amoebazoa. The phosphatase domain is quite diverged from other myotubularins.
Domains
Pats1 contains an N-terminal GRAM domain, followed by a myotubularin phosphatase, LRR repeats, a ROC GTP–binding domain, COR domain, protein kinase, and WD-40 repeats [1].
roco9 has a similar architecture: but with a RhoGAP replacing the GRAM domain, loss of the WD40, and largely has lost the Roc and COR domains - weak sequence similarity is retained to those domains in pats1, but the regions are only poorly conserved with orthologs, so are unlikely to be functional domains.
Functions
Pats1 is required for cytokinesis in Dictyostelium discoideum [1].
